1. How many co's practice these types of interviews after inventory? 2. I've never worked for a company that used these for intel... 3. Seem's to me that they would be standard practice. 4. Anyone have a good format to follow for new DLPM's?

Mervyns used to conduct these type of interviews. There was a very exact protocol and policy for approved staff to follow.I have conducted these types of interviews and they can be very effective.

After every inventory, the buyers of departments with the highest shrinkage were interviewed by the company's shortage committee for their ideas, input, possible explanations for the shrink, their suggestions on how to reduce the losses. Some ideas had to do with vendor paperwork, central distribution center receiving practices, inter-store transfers, physical layout of their departments in unique stores, mark-down/mark-up practices, poor store management, insufficient security (LP) coverage or attention to their goods, etc. Very very insightful. This made the buyers "owners" of a portion of the losses.

Anything I have is propitiatory information, sorry. If you decide to conduct general loss interviews - please be sure you have the backing of your company HR and the like. The process can be full of pitfalls.
